A superb quick take away of Tom Martin's review notes:
"Expectations are averages and Execution Matters",
OK, it is a well known fact especially with Horn Speakers and so is his exceptional industry insight which provides a valuable grounded take on this very exciting product.
The Absolute Sounds is a bible for some audiophiles as it was for me from my early days so it is with great respect I refer you to seek out and view this review.
He has produced a technical in depth look into the Opus 1 and it is worthwhile viewing for those that are interested in this quick and natural sounding speaker that is the entry model in the Avantgarde single chassis portfolio of products.
For those that have considered affordable horn speakers and combining with a low watt SET amplification partner but after a listen you walked away not feeling it, well why not think about the offer from the Horn Specialists:
Avantgarde Acoustics.
With the Opus 1, the hard work has already been done for you and all that is left is feeding it via a dedicated pre-amp. So you know, I am not a fan of streamers controlling the system, i know some promote this way but today when you can get so many great pre-amps with streaming functionality built in, why would you?
Multi function pre-amps is one trend now for a simple solution so just check out COS D10 and the AVM range of products amongst the many out there that offer these features, set it up right and you'll love it.
For those that wonder how good could the Avantgarde Opus 1 Active Speaker can be considering its "low price point" by contrast to the other family members of the Avantgarde Speakers lineup, why not book in an audition at an Opus 1 dealer today to find out.
